Back in February, Blizzard announced Diablo II: Risen for several platforms, including the Nintendo Switch. Since then, there has been very little information about the remaster of this iconic classic.
Now, in a new update, the company has confirmed that its very first technical Alpha for the game (for PC gamers) will only start on Friday and will last until April 12th. It gives players access to Acts I & II and allows them to choose the Amazon, Barbarian and Wizard class.
A general question on the same page confirms that console players will be included in future play tests:
Q: Why is the Alpha PC technical only available? Will console players be able to test Diablo II: Resurrected?
A: Diablo II: Resurrected launches on Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. We will include console players in our future game testing phase.
To make up for this, live streams from the Technical Alpha are on Twitch.tv and YouTube games this weekend.
The FAQ also mentions how the Technical Alpha is a single player only, and notes how the final version of the game ‘off-line’ allows’ in single-player mode, will include ‘old movies in the game’ as placeholders. does not allow progress to be transferred, and does not allow saving files.
While Blizzard says there is ‘no release date’ at the moment, he promises it will arrive in 2021. Are you looking forward to returning to the world of Sanctuary? Leave a comment below.
