(CNN Español) – The Department of Health of Puerto Rico confirms the martes’ existence in the island of a new variant of covid-19. It was first detected in California and responds to identification B.1.427.
At present, 28 cases of covid-19 variants have been identified in Puerto Rico. Of the numbers, 18 respond to the British variant (B.1.1.7), six cases of the California variant (B.1.429), two cases of the other variant of California (B.1.427) and two cases of the variant of Brazil (P.2).
The first variant identified in the British Isles Island (B.1.1.7) was detected in January. According to the Department of Health, of the 28 cases confirmed variants, 26 were considered as a variant of preoccupation, there is evidence that there is a mayor transmissibility; while the variant of interest has specific genetic markers and those that are associated with changes that allow the transmission of the virus. At the moment, the cases identified by the variant of Brazil are responding to variants of interest.
As of April 6, the Department of Health reported that in Puerto Rico there were 99,780 confirmed cases of covid-19; 99,874 suspicious cases; 10,242 cases probably y 2,136 deaths. Recently, the authorities informed that the million doses of vacancies against the covid-19 administered in Puerto Rico.
