Concerns over COVID-19 threaten to disrupt national title race

In the latest twist of a season full of disruption, there are COVID-19 issues threatening to disrupt Monday’s national championship game between Alabama and the state of Ohio.

According to sources, there are concerns related to the availability of players for the Ohio State for the game, which is less than a week away from starting the game in Miami, a massive decision. The state of Ohio has informed key parties that it may be without a position group due to COVID-19 testing and related protocols.

There have been discussions between the SEC, Big Ten, the College Football Playoff and the schools related to the possible postponement of the title game on January 11, sources said, although a final decision on the situation has not yet been reached. The CFP had already settled in Hard Rock Stadium on January 18 as the make-up date in case the title match had to be postponed. The hope and expectation is that the match will be played from Tuesday afternoon on January 11th.
