CCI writes: “Although we are suffering from the explosion of the vaccine and the growing number of individuals being vaccinated, it seems that July will still be too early to keep a personal event within the scope of Comic-Con safe. , we made the challenging decision to postpone Comic-Con 2021 as a personal gathering until our 2022 dates, and once again hold this year’s celebration as the free online Comic-Con @ Home.Unfortunately, the challenges of the past year and the multiple postponement of our two biggest events has left us with limited financial resources, and this year the online experience will be reduced to a three-day event, which runs from 23-25 July 2021.
CCI also makes it clear that participants who have transferred their badges for 2020 to 2021 will have their badges switched back to 2022. Those who prefer a refund can submit a request via the Comic-Con website.
As CCI notes in its statement, this cancellation reflects the fact that in 2021 the entertainment industry is still struggling to return to normal, although the COVID-19 vaccine is becoming more prevalent. A number of emerging films have experienced further delays with pandemics this year, while Paramount is the latest studio to embark on a more aggressive strategy for theater / streaming releases. As of mid-February, however, Disney has no plans to release the long-delayed Black Widow on Disney +.
