Colorado Springs Clinic Suspended from COVID Vaccination Program Affecting 7000 Appointments

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A clinic in Colorado Springs is currently unable to participate in the COVID vaccination program, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) announced late Friday night.

The relevant organization is Dr. Moma Health and Wellness Clinic in El Paso County. 11 News has learned that several people unexpectedly canceled their vaccination at the clinic on Friday. According to CDPHE, the suspension was linked to irregularities in the storage and handling of vaccines. Dr Moma Health and Wellness Clinic will not receive doses while the investigation continues. About 7,000 appointments scheduled for May 8 are affected by the survey. Everyone affected should receive communication from the state.

El Paso County Public Health has alerted the Joint Vaccine Task Force following an inspection by Dr. Moma Health and Wellness.

“The health and safety of all Colorado dancers is always the state’s highest priority,” members of the Colorado State Joint Information Center wrote in a release. “According to the Colorado Immunization Information System (CIIS), the provider administered 3,933 vaccines on this site. CDPHE is determining whether the provider has records to show that the storage protocols were complied with throughout, or that it was an isolated incident. Health officials do not believe that patients on this site have cause for concern, but are determining whether those previously vaccinated at this site should resume their vaccination series, as sometimes happens with similar cases where other vaccines are involved.

The clinic is located at 411 Lakewood Circle near Airport Road and S. Academy Boulevard.

11 News will follow up on this report in the coming days.
