Colorado police release images of perps in the Boulder weekend riot and ask the public for help in identifying their identities

Police in Boulder, Colorado, have released a new video and more than a dozen new images of people taking part in violence and property destruction during a riotous weekend street party near the University of Colorado.

The incident took place on University Hill on Saturday and resulted in three SWAT officers being assaulted by bricks and rocks, police said. There was also significant property damage, including a fire truck and an armored police vehicle.

Residents’ vehicles were also blown up and damaged, according to police, including one that overturned the mob.

The video released Monday shows a short clip of several people hanging from the back of a moving fire truck. The photos show individuals as they turn a car on its side, stand on top of vehicles and set someone on fire in the street.

Detectives have received more than 750 tips about the incidents since Sunday and have asked the public to help identify those in the video and photos.

“Due to the amount of information and the prevalence of social media, the amount of tips is not like any previous investigation, and will take time to review and compile,” police said Monday.

Several individuals have already been identified, according to police, and detectives want to talk to the others seen in the images.

The university said any CU Boulder students violated the COVID-19 public health orders. Those involved in violence and destruction could face severe sanctions, including permanent suspension and criminal charges from the city and country.

“The violence, vandalism and aggression we saw yesterday is unacceptable and we will do everything in our power to hold CU students accountable,” UC President Mark Kennedy said in a statement on Sunday.
