Colombian Juan González was nominated by Joe Biden as director for the Occidental Hemisphere

González resides in the Obama-Biden administration as Deputy State Secretary for Occidental Hemisphere Assistants, and in the White House as Special Assistant to Vice President Biden.

President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will announce these four new names for the Casa Blanca National Security Council. Among them is the Colombian Juan Sebastián González who was named senior director for the Occidental Hemisphere.

González resides in the Obama-Biden Administration as Deputy Secretary of State for the Occupations of the Occidental Hemisphere, and in the White House as Special Assessor of Vice President Biden. In 2017, González was nominated by Senator Chuck Schumer to serve as a commissioner of the Bipartisan Hemisphere Drug Enforcement Commission. También also represents the Biden Campaign in the Biden-Sanders Labor Working Group on Immigration.

Born in Colombia and created in New York, González graduated from the University of Georgetown and volunteered as a volunteer at the Cuerpo de Paz in Guatemala. “I am deeply honored and willing to work,” González said in his personal Twitter account.
