Colombia is creating an alliance to control the hippopotamus, an animal that proliferates through the eccentricity of Pablo Escobar

The Colombian Ministry of the Environment announced this Saturday that the National Strategy for the Manipulation of the Hippopotamus was being established with the help of the media to control the population of this species, which was raised by Pablo Escobar.

This initiative was planted at the Mesa Technique Interinstitutional of Hippopotamus led by the Deputy Minister of Political and Normalization, Francisco Cruz, when the Scientific Community of Pais hiccups a lame at Gobierno and the media with respect to it.

“We have reached the conclusion that before taking a decision, we will have a detailed study on this species that was introduced in Colombia more than 30 years ago. With this strategy, we will work on the manpower of scientists and we will develop a participatory process with the communities that live near the huts where the hippos live ”, asseguró el viceministro.

In this case, it is indicated that these measures are aimed at establishing responsible actions and concrete views on the situation that is particularly present in the municipalities of Doradal, Puerto Nare, Puerto Triunfo, Puerto Berrio, Yondó and La Dorada in the region known as the Magdalena medium.

This strategy will be a burden on the scientists of the Humboldt Institute and the National University, which will meet with the support of experts from the University of Javeriana, the University of Antioquia and the Regional Autonomous Corporation of the Black and Black Rivers (Cornare).

“In the country it has commented, recently, on the risks that human beings and biodiversity can generate in the hippopotamus. “Here is the importance of this document planted by the Ministry and which will be deepened on the topic of proceeding with actions that at the moment concern the Colombians”, indicated the Ministry.

The National Strategy for the Hippopotamus Maneuver is centered on three pillars: a deep investigation of the social and ecological giants that represent the presence of this species in this region; a characterization of the acts and perceptions of the local populations associated with the hypothetical; y a public component, which studies the distribution of the species and its habit.

The Ministry reports that this is the first time that a peace agreement has been reached in this country to analyze the case of this median species and an agreement between the Charter and the Departments of the Institute of Natural Sciences of the National University and the Institute of Resources Biologists Alexander von Humboldt.
