Coca-Cola staff say during ‘online training seminar’ try to be less white ‘

Coca-Cola raised some eyebrows this week for promoting an online training seminar in which employees are encouraged to “try to be less white” in the fight against racial discrimination.

Slides from the training seminar shared online this week contain tips on how to show off whiteness.

The tips to ‘be less white’ include: ‘be less arrogant, be less confident, be less defensive, be humble, listen, believe, break with apathy,’ and ‘break with white solidarity’.

Another slide tells viewers that, to confront racism, they need to understand ‘what it means to be white, and what it means to be racist’.

White people in the United States and other western countries are “socialized to feel that they are inherently better because they are white,” reads another slide.

It continued: “Research shows that children between the ages of 3 and 4 understand that it is better to be white.”

The seminar was predictably divided, with some praising the company and others threatening to boycott it.

Advocate and founder of the Center for American Liberty, Harmeet Dhillon, who shared the slides on her Twitter, said the slides look “like blatant racial discrimination.”

In a letter to Fox Business, the soft drink giant said the chips attributed to a Coca-Cola training program “are not part of the company’s curriculum.”

“Our better co-global training is part of a curriculum to help build an inclusive workplace. It consists of a number of short vignettes, each lasting a few minutes, ‘the company said.

It noted that the training is available on LinkedIn and includes a variety of topics, including diversity, equity, and inclusion.

“We will continue to listen to our employees and refine our learning programs as appropriate,” the company said.
