The U.S. Coast Guard announced Friday that it has suspended its search for a missing vessel carrying about 20 people traveling from the Bahamas to South Florida.
The blue-and-white 29-foot Mako Cuddy Cabin vessel left Bimini, Bahamas on Monday, but could not reach its destination in Lake Worth, Florida, the Coast Guard said in a statement.
Officials received information Tuesday about the disappearance of the boat, which led to an extensive search by the Coast Guard, the Royal Bahamas Defense Force and the Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association.
The agency said the 84-hour investigation covered about 17,000 square miles between the Bahamas and Florida.
The Coast Guard did not identify any of the passengers.
