Coalition Scientific recommends using serological tests to diagnose COVID-19

The Puerto Rican Scientific Coalition, headed by Governor Pedro R. Pierluisi, presented to the Executive and the Department of Health an analysis and recommendations on COVID-19 diagnostic tests to be conducted in Puerto Rico during this second year. One of the recommendations is not to use the serological tests or fasteners in any context as a diagnostic test by COVID-19.

“Science has advanced a lot over the past year, including virus detection strategies. In accordance with the Executive Order OE-2021-001, Governor Pedro R. Pierluisi ordered the Secretary of Health to create, design and execute a program that results in the massive administration to detect the COVID-19, we present an analysis Donate to Puerto Rico on the subject of testing, we have advanced the science and we have recommended recommendations for creating robust systems that allow us to diagnose the behavior of the virus during the reproduction processes in this year, and detect possible problems , PhD, Member of the Puerto Rico Scientific Coalition.

The members of the Coalition agree that the strategies should be adjusted to log three metas: 1) Mayor accessibility to diagnostic tests, 2) distribution and use of tests in key points during the reprocessing processes and 3) adjusting the use of testing tests monitor the virus and its variant.

“We are conducting our analysis examining what is happening in Puerto Rico during the pandemic, the opportunities and the delays, in the context of where the science is high. He has difficult moments of trials in Puerto Rico, and at the moment, as far as we are concerned, there is an abundance of trials for the people who do not have sufficient trials. This offer and demand, and its accessibility, need to stabilize, provided that, contrary to the commencement of the pandemic, there are about 300 authorized licenses for use in the United States and Puerto Rico. Geen hooi razon para que una persona quiere hacerse una prueba, geen pueda hacérsela. One of the unique aspects of Puerto Rico is the number of private laboratories that have been operating throughout the island and which have increased accessibility to the population. Hecho, he has logged more than 1.7 million diagnostic molecular tests, ”said Barbara Segarra, collaborator of the Puerto Rico Scientific Coalition.

The Coalition agrees that 84% of the total trials conducted in Puerto Rico during the pandemic are conducted in private clinical laboratories or academic centers. The moments of ‘escasez’ of tests, which affect the citizenship, surgery in part by administrative barriers that prevent the access to reactive or the ejaculation of the tests in these laboratories of the private sector. Some of these barriers do not exist and limit access to tests, barriers such as, for example, require in some contexts a medical order to make a test, misinformation about the type of test that must be done or what is needed try a recovery, on the part of the medical plans, about the sample. The Coalition recommends that these barriers be removed and that alliances be established, as is the case under the jurisdiction of the United States and other parts of the world, between the Department of Health and the private sector to extend access to las pruebas a la ciudadanía.

The Coalition agrees that the type of test that must be carried out must be carried out in conjunction with the change in access to the tests and scientific knowledge associated with the measures.

Serological tests have no diagnostic tests. We do not recommend the use of serological tests as a diagnostic tool in any context. We understand that some evacuated citizens are undergoing serological tests to establish a level of evacuation. We understand that these tests are not necessary in the midst of the neutralizing antiquities that surgen lie of evacuation, and we recommend avoiding practice ”, said Mildred Lozada, member of the Puerto Rican Scientific Coalition.

“For another reason, we recognize the existence of new variants and the need to have systems that allow us to identify them. We recommend the implementation of vigilance programs based on molecular embedded epidemiology in the variants of COVID-19 that allow to contain communication contours and the evaluation of the transmission mechanisms of these, “said Dra. Kenira Thompson of the Scientific Coalition. “The programs should include the Islamization of the virus and the analysis of the neutralization of librarians of vaccinated patients, by rank and plasma of patients recovered to establish the neutralizing antipsychotics that our population can produce, if possible. circulants. It is also necessary to support vigilance and research projects that result in the construction of libraries for sick patients and the realization of IgG / IgM serological tests, pre- and post-vacancies in riots. This will allow you to understand whether or not the individuals are generating anti-SARS-CoV-2 anticoagulants. We understand that these strategies are the correct and rigorous way to monitor the administration in Puerto Rico, and in the context of the variants ”.

In addition, the Coalition recognizes that there are other ways of integrating the science into the monitoring of the virus that has not been used in Puerto Rico, and that it needs to integrate to robust its vigilance systems. For example, the Coalition recommends that the distribution of tests and strategies be adjusted in the context of openings, including its strategic use in airports, schools, government agencies or the private sector. I recommend the integration of methods, such as the grouping of “pooling” teachers, for group monitoring and contexts, such as school rehearsals. We also recommend the implementation of new residual water epidemiology programs that allow residual infection foci and Establish possible outbreaks while detecting the presence of SARS-CoV-2 virus in these samples. The pusiese process includes the grid of mutations of some varieties, as well as the determination of the relative concentration of these.

The pandemic has not ended, but in Puerto Rico we have the scientific knowledge to be able to monitor the behavior of the virus and make the necessary adjustments to protect the population. In the wake of this pandemic, we recommend new vigilancers so that we do not encounter new ones in circuits where they may seek recourse or access to evidence that we are not allowed to carry out virus behaviors and take scientific decisions. We welcome the Department of Health to the implementation of these new programs, which will increase its capacity and access to tests for the benefit of citizenship. Exhortamos de igual forma a la ciudadanía a que continüe las medidas cautelares par protéders de las Infecions y que continuu realisandose pruebas quand esten availa o cuando tengan síntomas. We will be able to identify the foci of possible contagios and protect them during the repatriation processes, in the context of the variants and in accordance with the law of rehabilitation “, concluded Daniel Colón Ramos, president of the Scientific Coalition of Puerto Rico.
