Duke needs two basketball freshmen and deserves a boost in playing time.

A permanent turnaround for this Duke basketball team requires more than one quick fix. Aside from it being Saturday’s 91-87 home loss to UNC (12-6, 7-4 ACC), it quickly feels a little too late to save any serious March Madness hopes.

No, the chances are high that these Blue Devils (7-7, 5-5 ACC) will watch from the bench.

But Duke’s eight remaining scheduled games, starting at 16:30 on Tuesday in Durham against Notre Dame (7-10, 4-7 ACC), will be invaluable. With that in mind, the Blue Devils should view this piece as an opportunity to 1) set their sights on an ACC tournament, 2) expand their individual talents, and 3) build their chemistry for a sunnier 2021- 22-season. .
