Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence ended months of speculation about his future when he released a video on Wednesday that officially announced his decision to enter the NFL draft in 2021 later this year.
The junior junior shared a video on Twitter that officially announced an end to his time with the Clemson Tigers to explain for the draft after his college career had a heartbreaking end to New Year’s Eve with a loss to Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl.

“I really feel like I’m a man now and I’m ready to take on the challenges,” Lawrence said in the announcement. “Super excited for the life ahead. I’m grateful for Clemson and I’m going to miss it.”
The initial plan for this season was to finish his college career as a junior and announce the draft, but the 6-foot-6 long-term quarterback apparently quickly pumped the brakes on it as the then-unbeaten New York Jets had the favorite became for the overall number 1.

Lawrence, who was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, attended high school in Georgia, where he played football before joining Clemson in 2016 as a five-star recruiter.
It took four new games in 2018 before he became the starting quarterback and never gave up the position – except for two games this season that he missed after testing positive for COVID-19.

Lawrence led the Tigers to the national title in 2018 and broke down Alabama Power Station 44-16 when he threw for 347 yards and three touchdowns to complete a 15-0 season. He tried to win rugby titles the following season but lost 42-25 to LSU.
“I learned a lot about myself about who I want to be, just all those things,” Lawrence continued.
Lawrence finished with 10,098 yards passing with 90 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. This year, he completed a best career with 69.1 percent of his throws on the verge of winning ACC Player of the Year.
