If there was one more drama left for Clemson fans, Trevor Lawrence officially ended it on Wednesday and released a video on social media announcing that he would enter the NFL draft.
“My time here has been incredible, and I will be a Clemson Tiger forever,” Lawrence said in the video.

Lawrence led Clemson to a national championship in 2018 as a freshman and won his first 25 times for the Tigers before falling to LSU in last year’s title game. He has made the College Football Playoff for three years of his career at Clemson. He finished second in the Heisman Trophy poll announced Tuesday, and he is widely expected to be the No. 1 overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2021 draft NFL.
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney calls Lawrence “the biggest winner I’ve ever had” and praises his QB for his off-field work.
Lawrence helped organize a social justice movement at Clemson this summer and he was an integral part of the #WeWantToPlay movement that helped sports leaders move forward with a college football season amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“Looking back, I hope my legacy is that I was a good teammate and a good person in general, more than how I played,” Lawrence said. “That’s how I treated people. I want that to be the most important thing I’m known for.”
Lawrence initially told ESPN’s College GameDay in October that he intended to enter the draft, but he later retorted the comment, saying ‘who knows’ what the future holds, which contributes to the speculation that he possibly going back to school if he is not satisfied. the team will likely set him up.
“I’m just trying to enjoy my last few months here if that’s what I decide to do,” Lawrence said at the time. “I’m just trying to enjoy it, and of course I’m not trying to make a fuss. After testing positive for COVID-19 and missing out on Clemson’s games against Boston College and Notre Dame, Lawrence returned to lead the Tigers to a sixth ACC championship, before heading to the Ohio Football semifinals last week. College Football Playoff has fallen.
Lawrence finished his Clemson career third in the history of the school in passing yards (10,098) and second in TD passes (90).
“For all my teammates over the past three years, it was the most enjoyable ride I’ve had,” Lawrence said. “I will look back on the past three years and have the best memories.”
