‘Clear White’ Pixel 4a 5G is now available for $ 499

As revealed earlier this month by an unintentional retail listing, Google is ending Verizon’s exclusivity on the Clearly White Pixel 4a 5G by releasing an open model. With Sub-6 5G connectivity, it sells today in four countries for $ 499.

In addition to the “bright white” rear polycarbonate casing, there is a mint green on / off button on this Pixel 4a 5G. The almost uniform frame – thicker bottom edge – around the 6.2-inch screen, remains black for a subtle two-tone look that makes this budget phone somewhat distinctive and gives buyers more choice in the look section.

Compared to the Verizon model, it drops the mmWave radio and is $ 100 cheaper. As of late Wednesday night / early Thursday morning, B&H and Amazon are already open orders for $ 459 through January 31st.

update: The Pixel 4a 5G is now unlocked and available in Clearly White in the Google Store. Orders placed today will arrive by the end of this week. This model is available in the USA, Canada, Taiwan and Japan. It’s not currently on Google Fi, which executes a separate agreement.

The Pixel 4a 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 765G with 6 GB RAM and 3800 mAh battery. It is the same processor as the Pixel 5, but imitates the Pixel 4a in the RAM section. The most important similarity with the flagship is the dual lens setup of a 12.2MP rear camera and 16MP ultrawide. The 3.5mm headphone jack is another important component, while there is no wireless charging or IP waterproofing.

This clear white Pixel 4a 5G enters the market in a scenario similar to the unlocked Barely Blue Pixel 4a. When the $ 349 phone was launched in August last year, Google said it could only offer one color due to manufacturing restrictions. Three months later, however, the company was able to release another tint in both the US and Japan.
