CJ Barnett, former Ohio soccer safety back in player development

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio football has turned to an alum to play a key role in supporting players.

According to the OSU Employee Guide, CJ Barnett has been appointed Director of Player Development and External Affairs. The former Buckeye security guard was recently hired as a police officer in Columbus.

Buckeye Scoop first reported the rent.

Barnett fills the role vacated when Ryan Stamper left to join Urban Meyer’s first coaching staff with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Barnett played for the Buckeyes from 2009 to 13 and was a three-year-old frontrunner in the secondary series. During the three seasons, he scored 215 tackles with 12 fights and four interceptions.

The director of the role of player development assists players with a variety of non-football issues, such as academics, careers and off-field issues. Stamper, for example, was directing the program’s Real Life Wednesday program.
