City’s iconic Denver Diner closes after 30 years

DENVER – One of the last of Denver’s iconic dinners closes its doors forever. Denver Diner announced Sunday that it will not reopen.

The dining room has been a staple on the corner of Colfax and Speer for over 30 years. But the restrictions that placed the business in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic apparently contributed to the owner’s decision not to reopen.

The dining room closed in November when Denver went to Level Red with the state’s COVID-19 link. However, the city went down to a less restrictive level earlier this month, allowing for indoor dining at 25%.

“It is with great sadness that we announce our decision not to reopen. Read the article if you want to learn more. We may be gone now, but not forever, ”Denver Diner wrote on his Facebook page, linking to an article in Westwood announcing the closure.

The restaurant’s general manager, Konstantine Skordos, told Denver7 that he hopes to open another Denver Diner soon, if it’s safe, but it will not be in the same place.
