City Of OKC issues ‘voluntary’ cooking advice to some residents

The city of Oklahoma City said residents recommended voluntarily boiling their water if they interrupted the week.

The recommendation given by the city comes from the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

The city said the voluntary cooking advice would expire in 72 hours unless the city decides to end it before the three-day period ends.

If you have lost water due to this week’s winter weather, the DEQ recommends boiling water for one minute and then letting it cool down to room temperature. Anyone with skin wounds or other conditions should avoid bathing in the water unless they first consult a physician.

Residents who have reported discolored water to the service delivery are asked to run the tap water until it becomes clear again.
