The cardiothoracic cardiologist at Hospital Auxilio Mutuo, Dr. Orlando López de Victoria, together with a team of health professionals, salvaged the life of a patient with valvular endocarditis who did not possess the necessary criteria to intervene with an open surgery.
The endocarditis is treated by the inflammation of the interior of the valvules and cardiac chambers, which form the endocardium.
In general, this inflammation is caused by an infection of bacterial origin.
“One more time the great Cardiovascular Team of Auxilio Mutuo has history. Estamos a la vanguardia en endocarditis valvular. The patient was not allowed to undergo coronation and salvage surgery on his own and removed the mass of bacteria from Angiovac. It’s our third case, for the glory of God, ”said the sub-specialist in social media.
The first time the Angio Vac team in Puerto Rico was used to remove coagulas to a patient to avoid a pulmonary embolism. This team works as if it were a successor and avoids that the patient intervenes in a surgical and risky manner.
