Chrome OS 89 is a major update that adds Phone Hub, more

Following the desktop and mobile updates last week, Chrome OS 89 launches today. There are a number of major usability improvements in this version that will be available in the coming days.

Phone Hub enables users to control their paired phone from Chromebooks. Tap next to the status information pill, and tap to open a panel at the bottom right that first shows the phone status such as cell signal and battery percentage. With key actions you can activate hotspot / tethering, silence your phone with DND and locate / call a lost phone. Another aspect of the Phone Hub shows your last two open Chrome tabs from Android. You can also receive and respond to notifications.

Similarly, Google reiterated how Nearby part comes to transfer files between Android and other Chromebooks. It is ready for the “coming months”. Wi-Fi sync now working to share network credentials between Chrome and Android.

Version 89 introduces a “Sketmskoot“Instrument aimed at teachers who want to record what appears on their exhibitions. After launching the current shortcut from the new shortcut, your current screen darkens and a floating panel appears below. Users can choose between a screenshot or a video recording, while there are three types of area:

  • Partial
  • Window

Chrome OS 89 make all apps circular. Unique, non-matching shapes are placed in circles with strong backgrounds. This change applies to the shelf and the program launcher. Some first-party Chrome and Android icons already fit, but many others do not, though there are new Calculator and Canvas icons.

  • Media controls is now directly integrated into Quick settings, while you can put the media player directly on the shelf.
  • The Clipboard – accessible with Everything Button + V – has been updated to show the last five copied items, including text and images.
  • If you right-click on a word or section, Chrome OS now offers Assistant Trademark Quick answers it can include definitions, translations, or unit conversions.
  • The Desks function will continue by reloading, while you can right-click on a window to send to a specific space.
  • Type Share a supported app or website displays a list of targets to which you can send a file directly.
  • Choose to speak has new controls to speed up, slow down and interrupt the reading in real time, as well as to jump to different parts.
  • The password box on the login screen has a new shape, while the entered text does not appear in the middle.
  • Chrome OS now supports scan on compatible multifunction printers.
  • The Camera app can be used to QR codes scan, with recognition occurring automatically.
