If you ever get an annoying (and maybe private) Chrome notification while sharing the screen, you’m in luck – Chrome will now mute notifications by default when it sees your screen sharing. It will soon need to reach all accounts, but you can now activate it manually if you wish.

The function is very simple; it will simply hide the content of incoming Chrome and Google Chat notifications when someone logs in while sharing your screen. Google already muted notifications when they shared a tab in Google Meet, but it will now work no matter how you share your screen.

It’s starting now and will have to reach virtually all G Suite users within the next three days. However, if you want to try it out now, you can do it manually by turning it into flags (chrome: // flags / # mute-notifications-during-screen-share). Our resident Chrome expert, Kent, turned on this flag for a long time and has not had any issues with it yet.
