Christian Yelich leaves brewing game with back pain

Brewers star fielder Christian Yelich Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel was out of the afternoon’s departure in the second innings against the Cardinals.Twitter link). He’s dealing with back pain, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com (via Twitter).

Jackie Bradley Jr. replaces Yelich in the left field. Bradley, Lorenzo Cain and Avisaíl García would make up the Brewers outfield on most days if Yelich is forced to miss any time, with Billy McKinney at hand as depth. Of course, at this point there is no indication of Yelich’s removal, but only caution.

The 2019 National League MVP, Yelich, had a lower year (by its high standards) during the shortened 2020 season. He had a rather odd start in 2021. Yelich already has ten hits and six runs over his first 37 record appearances, but he has also hit twelve times and has yet to score a home run.
