Walgreens will begin administering coronavirus vaccines at 300 locations in North Carolina.
More than 31,000 doses of the vaccine will be given to those eligible from 12 February.
Walgreens was selected by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to deliver vaccines in 15 states and jurisdictions as part of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program.
The CDC has selected states and jurisdictions for the program to increase access to vaccines in medically underserved areas and areas with a high social vulnerability, which is the potential negative impact on communities caused by external stress on human health. The CDC will award a certain amount of vaccines to Walgreens at each location.
Walgreens was one of the first pharmacies to administer COVID-19 vaccinations to staff and residents of long-term care facilities in December, and we look forward to leveraging our experience to support the federal government and CDC in expanding access to these vaccines, “John Standley, president of Walgreens, said in a statement.
Once vaccinations are available, people should go to Walgreens’ website to plan them. Loopins are not accepted.
