China’s Xi calls for better protection of intellectual property

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on officials to step up protection of intellectual property rights from the perspective of “national strategy”, Xinhua News Agency reported.

The protection of intellectual property is the key to China’s opening up, national security and quality development, the report said, referring to an article by Xi published by Qiushi magazine on February 1.

Xi said officials should be aware of the shortcomings in intellectual property protection and carry out deep reforms in the sector, according to the Xinhua report.
