PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – The child who was in the middle of an Amber Alert on Monday was found safe and his father is now the suspect in the death of the boy’s mother and grandmother.

That child, 2-year-old Byron McDonald, was found in a room at the Aloft Hotel near Philadelphia International Airport.

It was also found that the suspect in this case, 28-year-old Byron McDonald II, and the mother of the suspect. Police believe it was she who booked the hotel room.

Both are now in custody.

Byron McDonald II is also suspected in the murder of the child’s mother and grandmother.

One of these murders took place around 1:30 p.m. Friday in the 2500 block N. Bancroft Street, when the child went missing.

In that case, the child’s grandmother, 50-year-old Tamara Aikens, was shot dead.

The child’s mother was found dead after police were called to a home in the 4800 block of North 8th Street around 9am on Monday to conduct a welfare check.

According to sources, there is a response here to the body of 25-year-old Morgan Tenae Braxton.

She was shot in the face in the dining room of a house and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sources tell Action News Braxton and McDonald have centered ongoing domestic disputes around McDonald who feel he does not have enough access to see his son.

An employee of the hotel noticed that the car police were searching and called the police. A heavy police presence could be seen at the hotel as officers searched.

Guests were evacuated Monday afternoon while the search was underway.

“I think someone tried to call our phone from below, and we’re trying to stay in our room maybe. But we would come back anyway to try to get food,” said Alicia Johnson of Upper Darby.

This is relief for Johnson and her friend Donte Mosley, who say he was mistaken for McDonald’s.

‘I said’ what are the police following us for? “I was just released from prison this morning,” he said.
