Child falls from tree in Eling’s Park

Today around 10:56 a.m., the Santa Barbara City Police Combined Communications Center was alerted to a child who fell on a tree in Elings Park.

The report to the responding fire department was that a child fell about 25 meters from a tree on Elings Park. The patient was located on a trail near the main parking lot.

A fire prevention inspector and an AMR ambulance staff arrived at the patient and provided an updated location with the best access to Las Positas and Jerry Harwin Parkway. Two fire engine companies showed up and helped with the packaging of patients.

It was later determined that the patient had fallen to the ground about 30 feet. She hit several large branches when she fell to the ground. Her injuries were moderate and she was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
