The Chiefs released a statement after former assistant coach Britt Reid, the son of head coach Andy Reid, was charged with drugging him on Monday for an accident that seriously injured 5-year-old Ariel Young.

“The Kansas City Chiefs organization remains unwavering about all those affected by this tragic accident,” the team said. “Our prayers are focused on Ariel’s ongoing healing and recovery. The Chiefs are in regular contact with the designated representative of the family during this challenging time. ”

There are still many questions about the wreck on February 4th. Britt Reid, with a previous conviction for drunk driving, had 83.9 km / h and a blood alcohol concentration of 0.113 when he stuck his car in a car that was pulling over to help a car, prosecutors say.

The accident happened days before Super Bowl LV and Britt Reid, then the Chiefs’ coach of the linebackers, missed the game. Britt Reid is no longer employed by the team.
