Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes ran nearly 500 yards in Super Bowl LV defeat to Buccaneers

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had five runs for 33 yards in the 31-9 defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night in Super Bowl LV.

The amount of yards he chased during the game did not do justice to the amount of yards he actually ran for. According to Next gene statistics, Mahomes ran 497 yards before throwing the football or being dismissed by the Buccaneers defense. It was by far the highest total of any quarter in the NFL this season.

In the Chiefs’ Week 5 game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Mahomes ran for 495 yards.

Mahomes completed 26 of the 49 passes for 270 yards without any touchdowns and two interceptions. The Chiefs, who had three field goals in the game, could not score a single attack against the Buccaneers’ fierce defense.

Buccaneers full-back Tom Brady won his seventh championship on Sunday. Brady completed 21 of 29 passes for 201 yards with three tips in the win. For his performance in the big game, Brady was honored as MVP of the game.

Brady outscored the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots for most Super Bowls in NFL history.
