Many Chick-fil-A customers faced an unexpected outage on Friday.

A Chick-fil-A representative confirmed to Insider that the chain’s third-party payment provider was interrupted Friday among many businesses it serves. Chick-fil-A restaurants’ payment systems could not process payments for about an hour.

The problem was solved and restaurants again processed the normal payment of 13.45 hours ET on Friday, the representative said.

But for some customers, there was a silver lining. Many Chick-fil-A restaurants started handing out free meals during the break.

Chick-fil-A has some of the longest driving lines in fast food due to its tremendous popularity. The long lines can cause discomfort, even without a break create confusion.

Insider recently reported that Chick-fil-A is facing three separate lawsuits from local businesses, claiming the chain’s throughline problems are causing problems. The chain is speeding up door-to-door lines by having workers order on iPads, implement new door-to-door designs and open more restaurants.
