Chicago shooting: crime farming kills 7 victims, 5 kills, between Chicago, Evanston and ends with police shooting

CHICAGO (WLS) – According to Chicago police, seven people were shot dead and at least five of the victims were killed after a shooting that stretched from Chicago to Evanston on Saturday.

A University of Chicago student is one of the victims killed during the shooting, CPD said. Another victim was a woman who was shot after she was taken hostage at an IHOP in Evanston, according to Evanston police.

Chicago police have identified the suspect as Jason Nightengale. Nightengale was also killed after a police shooting, officials said.

Crime scene revolves around the Hyde Park neighborhood in the city, indicating one of the spots in what is believed to be a random shooting.

At about 2:40 p.m., a person entered the lobby of an apartment building in the 4900 block of South East End Avenue and asked to use a telephone before firing, Chicago police said.

“He walked into the building and I think she told him to leave the building and then he shot her. Then she started running and he shot her again, ‘says a neighbor who does not want to be identified. .

Police said one woman was beaten in the face and the other in the chest.

The woman who was beaten in the chest was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. The other woman was taken to the same hospital in a critical condition.

Neighbors say the woman who was killed was the longtime doorman at the complex.

“She was a good person. She has two children that I know of,” the neighbor said.

Only a few blocks away, a US C student was shot dead in the parking garage of the Regent Park apartment complex in 5000 Street of S. East End Avenue, according to police and school officials.

The officer notified just after 5 p.m. that a student had been discovered in a car with a gunshot wound, officials said in a statement to the university’s community.

The university issued a statement saying: “This is deeply painful news for the university community and our South Side neighborhood. The University will provide support to members of our community affected by this incident.”

A 15-year-old girl is also in critical condition after being shot in the head while on the back seat of a car her mother was driving in the Chicago area. Police are investigating whether this shooting is also related.

Evanston investigators are working with Chicago police to put together Nightengale’s crime fight that began on the South Side of Chicago.
