Chicago lawmaker proposes banning Grand Theft Auto amid car crashes

An Illinois lawmaker has filed a bill banning Grand Theft Auto and other violent video games amid an increase in Chicago car dealerships, a report said.

Democratic Rep. Marcus Evans Jr., who represents part of Windy City, on Friday introduced legislation to amend an existing state law that bans the sale of certain video games to minors, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

According to the law, the sale of video games that sell ‘psychological damage’, including car interruptions, to everyone, not just minors.

“The bill bans the sale of some of these games that promote the activities we suffer in our communities,” Evans told the newspaper.

Last month, there were 218 car jackets reported in Chicago.

The bill also expands the definition of what a ‘violent video game’ is.
