Check out the newcomer to the Guilty Gear Strive Nagoriyuki in today’s opening guide

Two words: Vampire. Samurai.

Something a little different in today’s Guilty Gear Strive Getting Started Guide as Arc System Works finally lifts the curtain for one of the upcoming fighters’ brand new characters. Stoic, narrow, just as stylish as anyone in GG history, welcomes the night walker – Nagoriyuki.

I can just write ‘Vampire Samurai’ and let it go, but you deserve more. I will notice that Nagoriyuki’s enormous framework dominates the battlefield, while his razor-sharp Katana offers ridiculous range and astonishing stabbing ability. Nagoriyuki’s vampiric tendencies also come into play via his movement set, with a ‘Blood Gauge’ filling up when he strikes at his opponent. Once completed, Nagoriyuki can activate a rage mode, which increases its range and damage, at the expense of several special attacks.

In essence, an effective Nagoriyuki player will become stronger as the fight progresses, but also play riskier. It is reminiscent of the killer Mira of Killer Instinct, who also exchanges health and options for power as the battle continues. In addition to this mechanic, Nagoriyuki features shifting / short-teleport capabilities, a command grip, and boosting combo. Nagoriyuki already looks like an absolute force to be reckoned with, and will definitely make his impact felt when he starts in the spring.
