Jaguars coach Urban Meyer, who has no NFL game or coaching experience, has appointed a right-hand man who also has no NFL playing or coaching experience.

According to various reports, Charlie Strong, the former coach of Louisville, Texas and South Florida, will join Meyer as the assistant head coach. He is also expected to coach a position in the defense of the team.

Meyer and Strong spent five years together in Florida, where Meyer was the head coach and Strong served as defense coordinator.

The Jaguars take a calculated risk by entrusting the team to a head coach with so little NFL experience. If it works (like 30 years ago for Jimmy Johnson in Dallas), it’s going to be great. If that does not happen, they can move on and try again with another coach. As they have done for the past twenty years, since he fired Tom Coughlin, the only coach in team history, with a winning record.
