Charger driver Justin Regensburg was arrested in an accident that killed the Henrico officer

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. Police have arrested a Chesterfield man who they say is the hit-and-run driver who killed a veteran of the Henrico police officer who was walking in Glen Allen on Saturday morning.

Henrico police officials said 30-year-old Justin Regensburg was arrested Sunday at about 11:30 a.m. in King William County.

Regensburg is charged with assaulting an occupied vehicle and assaulting a pedestrian.

He is being held without connection in the Henrico County jail, officials said.

“This is a tragic situation for all involved,” said lt. Matthew Pecka and the Henrico police said. “Detectives will continue to work on the case with the state’s medical investigator and the Henrico Commonwealth’s law firm.”

Henrico police were called to Greenwood Road at Winfrey Road just after 11 a.m. Saturday for reports of a hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian.

“The preliminary investigation by the Henrico police collision team reveals that the suspicious vehicle was driving northwest on Greenwood Road when it hit the pedestrian,” Pecka said.
