CES 2021: Lenovo launches ThinkPad X12 Detachable ThinkReality A3 glasses

At CES 2021, Lenovo introduced a new removable ThinkPad device, the X12 Detachable. Cited as the first ThinkPad removable device to be released in a few years, Lenovo said the offer was created due to customer demand for removable products.

The ThinkPad X12 Detachable features an 11th-generation Intel UP4 chipset, a 12.4-inch FHD screen, Wi-Fi 6, a detachable folio keyboard, and uses the same magnetic pen as the X1 Titanium Yoga.

The announcement of the ThinkPad X12 Removable at CES 2021 comes with the release of the rest of Lenovo’s ThinkPad series, including the latest version of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon. The X1 Carbon got a 10nm Intel 11th processor, along with minor changes, such as a slightly wider 110mm touchpad, the addition of Dolby Voice and the shift of the fingerprint reader to the on / off button.

It also has a new hinge system with one rod and uses two fans instead of one, which according to Lenovo improves the ventilation and thermal capacity of the laptop, while also reducing the fan noise.

Lenovo also introduced the ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga, which is considered the flagship convertible laptop for the year and the thinnest convertible drive the company has ever offered.

The ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga has a thickness of 11.5 mm, weighs 1.15 kg and has a 13.5-inch QHD screen. It features an Intel 11th Gen Core chip, Iris Xe integrated graphics, two Thunderbolt 4.0 ports, four microphones and a magnetic pen. The most important draw is to have a 360-degree flexibility screen, Lenovo said.

All of this year’s ThinkPad models have the option to get 5G. However, the 5G for these laptops will be sub-6GhZ 5G and will not be able to have mmWave speed.

Lenovo also said that this year ThinkPad models all detect human presence – the ability to log in without touching the laptop through Windows Hello – and that the blue light levels have been improved compared to previous models.

The Chinese company also unveiled the ThinkReality A3, which is a new pair of smart glasses. The glasses are aimed at ‘transforming work at all levels’ through virtual exhibitions, 3D visualization.

“These are the most advanced and versatile smart glasses for businesses in the market, and it’s part of an overall strategy to provide comprehensive digital solutions to help with the intelligent transformation that businesses always tell us why they work so hard, “Lenovo said. technologist Kevin Beck said.

“In these new normal distributed workforce and hybrid work models, companies say they are looking for new technology and want to work together more intelligently.”

The glasses come in two models, the PC edition and the industrial edition, with the former being able to be connected to a computer, and the latter having the ability to be attached to a Motorola flagship smartphone. Both allow users to wear prescription lenses while using the ThinkReality A3, Lenovo said.

In announcing the product, Lenovo said it was focusing on flexibility in developing the glasses so that they could be ‘engaging but not insulating’. According to Lenovo, the industrial edition of the glasses allows work in factory floors, laboratories, as well as retail and hospitality spaces.

Last year, Lenovo used CES 2020 to unveil the ThinkPad X1 Fold, a foldable computer that took four years to develop and went through six designs before being launched late last year.
