If you just received a large bill from CenterPoint Energy, do not panic.

Several reported receiving an email from CenterPoint Energy, the greater Houston electricity supplier, claiming they owed more than $ 200,000 for this month’s bill.

KHOU is Melissa Correa confirmed that CenterPoint is experiencing an invoice issue and customers do not owe hundreds of thousands of dollars for electricity.

“We have just been warned about this issue, and we are investigating it to address it,” CenterPoint’s account @CPAlerts wrote in a response tweet. “Customers do not owe this amount, and it will not be deducted from their account. We will update our customers and media as soon as we have a resolution.”

After days of power outages in Texas that left millions of people in Houston without electricity or heat, CenterPoint Energy reported that more than 98 percent of its customers had power again Thursday morning, reports Matt Young of Chron.
