Cedrick Dort will not play in the Gator Bowl

When Kentucky kicks off NC State tomorrow afternoon, they will do so without Cedrick Dort, an impala junior cornerback. Dort announced the news tonight via Twitter.

This morning, Coach Stoops announced that the team was 100% after clearing their final round of COVID Tests. It is unclear whether Dort’s status is due to opt-out or another unforeseen circumstance.

This season, Dort allowed seven receptions on 11 targets for 72 yards with ten tackles as well. He has two deductions on the year. Dort did not see many screenshots behind Kelvin Joseph in 2020, but the native of South Florida saw a huge increase in screenshots against South Carolina after Joseph had selected a few days earlier.

Kentucky will now look for Carrington Valentine and Brandin Echols on the corner on Saturday.

That’s a pretty thin corner space for Brad White’s defense for Saturday.
