Cedric Richmond: We are not waiting for IDP for ‘insufficient’ stimulus

Biden’s top adviser, Cedric Richmond, told Axios on HBO that the White House believes it has dual support for a stimulus bill outside the Beltway.

  • “If we have the choice to wait and go double-party with an inadequate package, we are not going to do it.”

The big picture: The bill is likely to be revised in the Senate after House Democrats approved a stimulus bill over the weekend, reports Axios’ Kadia Goba.

Richmond said the Biden White House has not yet held talks on the breakthrough of the legislative filibuster in the Senate, which requires a 3/5 majority to pass bills.

  • “The Senate has long been obstructionist,” Richmond told Axios on HBO.
  • “We sent them bills that support 97% of Americans … but it goes to the Senate and dies,” Richmond said. ‘
