PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The CDC has updated travel guidelines for people who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

In an updated post on its website, the agency says that fully vaccinated people can travel safely within the United States without a COVID-19 test, as long as they wear a mask and social distance.

This is news that many have been waiting for. A group of families said at Pittsburgh International Airport on Friday that they had all been vaccinated and were on their way to Florida.

“Relieve, woo,” said Cathy Wetzler of New York.

The CDC has said that those vaccinated can travel to the United States without being tested for COVID-19 or quarantined if they continue to take precautions, including wearing masks and social distances while traveling.

‘Let’s do our part, why not? The faster we do it together, the faster we can get past it, ”said Oscar Veneszee from Florida.

According to the CDC, they are less likely to get and distribute COVID-19, and they can travel at low risk for themselves.

“I think it’s great. I have been vaccinated, so I am ready to use it and start traveling again, ”said Kara Buncic from Canonsburg.

She and her husband were on their way to Florida for a spring break. It was a difficult 13 months, full of canceled trips, locks and quarantines.

“We had to cancel at least three holidays and a destination wedding was canceled for us in 2020,” Buncic said.

“It was very frustrating. It felt like you were trapped. But we understand why they did it, to be safe, ”Sutfin said.

Travelers are ready for a smooth landing and some normality.

“It’s been more than a year since we could do anything. It therefore feels good to know that we can all make a journey together and enjoy life again, ”said Wetzler.

The CDC said people who are fully vaccinated traveling internationally do not need to be tested before COVID-19 before traveling unless their destination requires it. They also do not have to be quarantined unless required to do so where they live.

Vaccinated travelers still need to have a negative COVID-19 test before flying back to the US

The CDC does not encourage vaccinated people to travel and does not change its travel guidelines for unvaccinated people.
