The CDC defines people who are fully vaccinated as those who are two weeks past their second dose of Moderna and Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine, or two weeks after a single dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
People who are vaccinated are protected and there is increasing evidence that they do not spread Covid-19, but scientists are still trying to understand how long the protection of the vaccine lasts.
“The level of precaution should be determined by the characteristics of the people who have not been vaccinated, who remain unprotected against Covid-19,” the guidelines read.
- Visit other vaccinated indoors without masks or physical distance
- Visit indoors with non-vaccinated from one household without masks or physical distance, if the people who have not been vaccinated have the low risk of serious diseases.
- Skip quarantine and test if exposed to someone who has Covid-19 but is asymptomatic but needs to monitor for 14 days for symptoms
However, people who have been fully vaccinated still need to take precautions in many scenarios. According to the guidelines, people who have been fully vaccinated must:
- Wear a mask and keep a good physical distance around inoculated people who are at increased risk for severe Covid-19, or if the person who has not been vaccinated has a household member who is at higher risk
- Wear masks and body distance when not inoculating people coming from multiple households.
In addition, fully vaccinated people should follow basic safety precautions, including: wearing a well-fitting mask and keeping the physical distance in public; avoid medium and large crowds; avoiding poorly ventilated public spaces; hands were washed regularly; and to be tested for Covid-19 if they feel ill.
If fully vaccinated people live in a non-healthcare setting, such as a group home detention facility, they should be quarantined for 14 days and tested if they are exposed to someone with a suspected or confirmed Covid-19 case.
According to the guidelines, the risk of infection in social activities, such as going to the gym or restaurant, is lower for fully vaccinated, but people still need to take precautions as the risk of transmission in these institutions is higher and it increases the more vaccinated there is .
The CDC travel recommendations have not changed for uninitiated persons. According to the guidelines, the CDC recommends that you do not travel at this time.
“The benefits of reducing social isolation and relaxing some measures, such as the requirements for quarantine, may outweigh the remaining risk that people who are fully vaccinated will become ill with Covid-19 or SARS-CoV-2 passed on to others. , ”Read the guidelines. “There are various activities that fully vaccinated people can now resume, with a low risk to themselves, while being aware of the potential risk of transmitting the virus to others.”
There are now 30 million people in the United States who have been fully vaccinated.
