CDC predicts 400,000 US Covid deaths ahead of Trump’s resignation – world news

The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention now predicts that the U.S. will see 400,000 coronavirus deaths by January 20 when President Donald Trump leaves office.

The country surpassed 100,000 deaths in May and 200,000 deaths four months later. The CDC passed 300,000 within three months, and 400,000 looks like just one month, the CDC determined using a collection of mathematical models. the US has scaled one of the highest mortality rates of countries hardest hit by the virus, behind only Italy, Spain and the UK, for population.

The predicted rate will mean an additional 65,000 deaths in the coming weeks. The figures are a reminder of the increasing rate at which the virus is living in the US, and it underscores the urgency of the spread of vaccines.

Elected President Joe Biden is expected to blame the Trump administration on Tuesday for the slow introduction of vaccines, given at more than 2 million doses, a fraction of the 20 million promised by year-end.
