Cyberpunk 2077 fans made mods for the game to change all sorts of things, from the minimap to the weather. There is also a demand for savory mods, as players love characters in Night City. Players who want to practice Judy as a male V can do so, for example, using a mod created by Zialar. But not all mods of this nature survived intact. CD Project Red has completed a tweak that allows players to approach sex with Johnny Silverhand, a main character played by Keanu Reeves.
A popular but simple tactic for modders who are not eligible for characters is to go to the sex workers of the game, known as joytoys, and replace their NPC models with more characters, such as Goro Takemura or Evelyn Parker. One mod, Catmino, has uploaded a version of this mod that replaced a joytoy with Johnny Silverhand – only to have CD Project Red intervene and remove the mod according to the creator. You can no longer download it.
CD Projekt Red made a statement to PC Gamer and read in part:
Our most important rule regarding user-generated content, especially game modes, is that it may not be harmful to others. In the case of model swap transactions, especially those involving explicit situations, it can be considered as such by the people who borrowed our looks to create characters in Cyberpunk 2077.
Therefore, when creating fans, creators should make sure that they have permission from all parties involved (these may be people who are not CD PROJECT RED). For the characters we devised for the game, we allow you to customize the game at will and just have fun. When it comes to models of real people who have asked us to participate in the game, we ask you to refrain from doing so in any situation that may be offensive if you do not have their express permission.
CD Projekt Red does not respond in time to press. Johnny Silverhand has a sex scene in the game, but it’s from his point of view, which means you end up not seeing much. For disappointed players, they can look to other mods, including one that allows the role of Johnny Silverhand, John Wick or Keanu Reeves.
CD Projekt Red released official modding tools on January 26, so players interested in customizing their game can try their hand at it. Just be careful when it comes to the real person comedians in the game, like Hideo Kojima.
