Cases of coronavirus in Michigan up to 624,811; The death toll now at 15,897

The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Michigan rose from Saturday to 624,811, including 15,897 deaths, state officials reported.

Saturday’s update contains a total of 2,660 new COVID-19 cases and 47 additional deaths. The deaths announced Saturday include 39 deaths identified during a Vital Records investigation, meaning it did not occur on Friday or Saturday.

On Friday, the state reported a total of 622,151 cases and 15,850 additional deaths.

As of Saturday, a total of 562,775 recovered from COVID-19 in Michigan.

The testing reported an average of about 35,000 diagnostic tests per day, with a positive rate of 7 days above 6% as of Thursday. The state has reported a slight increase in hospitalizations over the past three weeks.

Michigan’s moving average of 7 days for daily business was Thursday 2149 – the highest since early January. The death toll from 7 days was 16 on Thursday and has been flat for several weeks. The state’s mortality rate is 2.6%. The state also reports ‘active business’, which was listed at 45,900 on Thursday – almost the lowest since October.

Michigan has more than reported 3.3 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered, as of Wednesday, with 25.6% of residents receiving at least one dose.
