Cases of coronavirus in Michigan continue to climb, reaching 8,413 for Saturday, April 3rd

The daily incidence of coronavirus in Michigan continues to climb, reaching 8,413 cases on Saturday, a recent one-day high.

The numbers appear to confirm the concern of state and local health leaders about another increase in COVID-19 cases.

The data for Saturday, April 3 also shows 57 new deaths. Of these, 51 were identified by a routine examination of death certificates and did not necessarily occur in the past 24 hours.

Along with the increasing number of cases, the rate of positive cases is also trending upwards. According to Friday, the percentage of positive cases compared to all diagnostic tests was 17.6 percent, according to the state panel.

Test sites submitted 48,307 tests on Friday.

Health officials recommend a positive test score of less than 5% to keep schools and communities open.

Michigan reports coronavirus recovery data once a week. As of Friday, there were 577,141 people recovering.

A recovery is considered to be someone who is still alive 30 days after the onset of COVID-19 symptoms.

Michigan now has a total of 692,206 cases of coronavirus since the pandemic began in March 2020. There were also 16,218 deaths.

The latest hospital statistics show that 2,766 people with COVID-19 were suspected or confirmed in Michigan hospitals, compared to 1,294 patients on March 18th. There are 539 adults with a suspected or confirmed coronavirus in intensive care units, compared to 294 patients on 18 March.

Vaccination data show that 4.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered by 1 April. This includes. 2.87 million first doses and 1.65 million second doses.

The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines require two doses, while the Johnson & Johnson shot requires only one dose for maximum efficacy.

According to a state vaccination panel, just over 35 percent of the eligible population in Vaccine has been vaccinated in Michigan. Only residents 16 years and older can be vaccinated.
