Cases in Coronavirus of Michigan up to 764,519; The death toll now stands at 16,621

The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Michigan rose from Wednesday to 764,519, including 16,621 deaths, state officials reported.

Wednesday’s update contains a total of 7,955 new cases and 35 additional deaths. The state reported 756,564 cases and 16,586 deaths Tuesday.

The test reported an average of about 35,000 diagnostic tests per day, with the 7-day positive rate above 15% from Tuesday, almost the highest we have ever recorded. Hospitalizations have increased over the past few weeks, now near the peak of the pandemic.

Michigan continues to lead the country in new COVID-19 cases. The state’s 7-day moving average for daily business was 7,014 on Tuesday – the highest since November. The 7-day mortality rate was 43 on Tuesday, slightly higher than the past two weeks. The death rate of the state is 2.2%. The state also reports ‘active affairs’, which was listed at 154,000 on Tuesday. More than 587,000 recovered in Michigan.
