Cases for coronavirus in Michigan up to 723,297; The death toll now stands at 16,400

The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Michigan rose from Thursday to 723,297, including 16,400 deaths, state officials reported.

Thursday’s update contains a total of 7,819 new cases and 73 additional deaths, including 43 from a Vital Records review. The state reported 715,478 cases and 16,327 deaths on Wednesday.

The test reported an average of about 35,000 diagnostic tests per day, with the 7-day positive rate above 16% from Wednesday, the highest since early December. The state has reported an increase in hospitalizations in recent weeks, now at its highest level since mid-December.
