Carpinteria armed robbers arrested in Goleta

Update by Santa Barbara County Sheriff

Three suspects in a robbery in Carpinteria were arrested hours later in Goleta when a citizen spotted them and called them 9-1-1. This morning at 05:41, delegates in Carpinteria responded to a 9-1-1 call from a quarrel at the Chevron on Via Real and Santa Monica. Delegates learn that an adult female victim was forcibly abducted and robbed by three suspects who fled in a vehicle before the deputies’ arrival. According to one of the suspects, he may be in possession of a firearm. Delegates checked the area for the suspects and broadcast a look-up (BOL) for their associated vehicle, a gold sedan with a flat tire. The victim did not need medical help and remained at the scene.

Hours later, around 8:44 a.m., a witness in Goleta called 9-1-1 to report an observation of suspects and a vehicle that matched the description of the BOL shared by local media. When delegates arrived, they located the vehicle, a brown Nissan, with three occupants standing in front of a tire shop in the 200 block of S. Fairview Avenue. Delegates briefly diverted traffic to the scene while contacting the suspects who were arrested without further incident. One of the suspects was found to have hidden a firearm on their person during the arrest.

The suspects are all from Tucson, Arizona and are identified as 22-year-old Barry Mullins, 22-year-old Seanray Allen and 18-year-old James Johnson. All three suspects were booked into the main prison for crimes including robbery, conspiracy and kidnapping. Mullins was charged with additional criminal charges, including carrying a loaded firearm in a public place and carrying a concealed weapon. All three suspects are being held on $ 1,000,000 bail.

The sheriff would like to thank all community members who watched these suspects. We also want to emphasize the sound judgment of the witness who stayed at a safe distance, immediately called 9-1-1 and provided useful information for responding units. This case is an excellent example of teamwork with the media sharing important and timely information with the public, members of the community who are vigilant and immediately report information to law enforcement, all of which enabled the delegates to respond quickly and this arrest suspects safely.

Does anyone know what happened in the 400 block of South Fairview around 9am this morning? It looks like it was in front of the Orient Hand Laundry or around there. Fairview blocked and very light.
