Carnival Cruise Line Status Update – Cruise Industry News

Mardi Gras Carnival

Carnival Cruise Line has had a hectic 2020 and 2021 so far.

Here are the key moves that have taken place for the Miami cruise line since the pandemic began:

Fantasy and inspiration deleted

In July, Carnival sells two of the older ships, the Carnival Fantasy and the Carnival Inspiration. Although no buyer was initially named, the two vessels were scrapped a few weeks later.

At the same time, the crossing has moved two other ships, the Carnival Imagination and the Carnival Fascination, to a long-term up-status.

Both movements also meant different changes in implementation, with adjustments to the home port and more. The biggest change has caused the cruise line to drop its travel routes from San Juan and Barbados in favor of focusing on U.S. markets on the continent.

Radiance slows down

Scheduled for March 2020, the $ 200 million drought of the Carnivals Victory was affected by the pandemic. The major overhaul, which includes the renaming of the vessel Carnival Radiance, was originally scheduled to take place in Spain and would last 38 days.

At the time, the deteriorating conditions in Europe led to the work being suspended completely. After Carnival pushed back the revamp a few times, he plans to finish it in September. From November 2021, the Radiance will replace the Carnival Inspiration and Carnival Imagination on the West Coast.

Imagination erased and fascination sold

After the Carnival Imagination and Carnival Fascination switched to a long-term up-status, it was finally sold.

The Imagination was the first one to leave the Navy in September. The vessel, built in 1995, is headed directly to Aliaga, Turkey, where it is currently being demolished.

The Fascination was sold for further service. The vessel left the fleet in October on its way to an Asian take-off.

Mardi Gras Delivered

In December, Carnival received the new Mardi Gras from the Meyer Turku site. The LNG-powered vessel joined the brand’s fleet in Finland before its US debut.

After pushing the Mardi Gras back a few times, the first cruise is scheduled for August 29 from Port Canaveral on May 29th.

Return to Service Plans and Drydocks

Carnival is currently planning a resumption of service on May 1, 2021. However, some of the vessels will remain out of service due to delayed drought.

The additional cancellations affect voyages from Norfolk, Tampa and New Orleans with the Carnival Magic, the Carnival Valor and the Carnival Paradise until October 31, 2021.

The Carnival Splendor, Carnival Spirit, Carnival Legend and Carnival Radiance also have different return schedules, which are related to different reasons.
