Cardinals, Reds benches clear after Nick Castellanos passes

CINCINNATI – The Reds and Cardinals have bickered several times over the years, renewing part of their rivalry in the fourth innings on Saturday with an extensive fight.

Cincinnati were 6-2 ahead when thrower Jake Woodford hit Nick Castellanos with a quick ball. Castellanos showed his displeasure to Woodford and Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina by picking up the ball and offering it to the pitcher.

Later in the innings with Mike Moustakas’ batting, Woodford throws a wild sheet that Castellanos scores from third base with a first header. Woodford covered the plate when the two met. Castellanos got up and bent over Woodford, which led to Molina defending his teammate.

This emptied the excavations and the bullpens.

The disaster was dying with both teams returning to their side when the donnybrook came up in the outfield after Cardinals reliever Jordan Hicks hit the Reds shortstop Eugenio Suárez. Participants messed up in the grass while Castellanos and Molina stayed in the field.

Castellanos was the only player put out of the game. He was replaced in the first place by the fifth by Aristides Aquino.

On Thursday, Castellanos trotted his bat and turned around after hitting an opening day against the Cards with Cincinnati trailing by six runs.

The two teams reportedly wrestled in 2010. Molina was in the middle of it when he and Brandon Phillips exchanged words on their own home page before an innings by the Reds’ second man.
