Captain Toad levels boosted Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

Four-player collaboration now extends to Captain Toad’s Adventures

As a fan of the Wii U original, I vaguely expected to play Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Wrath ‘when the time is right’ to want to play it right away in February – and feel good about the choice. I was not spiritual at that point before we saw what was not Bowser’s Fury brought along and learned that there would be cooperation (though only for two players instead of the main players’ four-player cap).

This is quite the turnaround. And funny enough, it’s a similar job as Pikmin 3 Deluxe – another excellent Wii U gem that I think was worth picking up again for its extra multiplayer support.

That said, it looks like Nintendo is going to go the extra mile Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Wrath. As shown in a game grip on Twitter today, the upgraded Switch title will have four-player collaboration in the Captain Toad puzzle levels. Do you remember that? The lines are quite vague to me at this point.

The road levels in Super Mario 3D World on Wii you were a solo case (GamePad only), but on Switch Captain Toad is accompanied by blue, green and yellow frogs – if you assume you have IRL backup. You will ‘work together’ to collect Green Stars. (And by that I mean that you will make each other worse.)

This is probably a small addition to the large scheme of 3D World, one that many people will not fully use, but it does matter. When it comes to re-issuing video games, the little touches always matter.
